The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Public Heath, is proud to announce the 1st Annual Latino Dialogue Kick-off Event, as a part of the African-American and Hispanic/Latino Leadership Conference on HIV/AIDS.

Featuring: Latina Immigrants Photo Ethnography currently being shown at the University of Louisville Cultural Center by Dr. Mari Mujica.

This forum will provide a unique opportunity for the Latino community and providers of services to the Latino community within the Commonwealth of Kentucky to get together and discuss successful ways of addressing the social determinants driving the HIV epidemic among Hispanics, engage in strategic networking with colleagues, Latino community leaders, and key local, regional & national subject matter experts; and also examine the unique challenges and barriers experienced in engaging in sustained HIV prevention and care.

Topics and sessions will include:
1) The National Landscape: Policy, Strategies and Challenges—Francisco Ruiz, National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD)
2) The Regional Landscape; Policy, Strategies, and Challenges—Christian Castro, the Latino Commission on AIDS
3) The Kentucky Landscape: Policy, Strategies, and Challenges—Ricardo Beato, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
4) Latino Community Conversation—Discussion with all participants

DID YOU KNOW?
In Kentucky, Hispanic Males, aged 20-29 years, had the highest proportion of cumulative cases (39%) While, Almost half (45%) of HIV infected Hispanics who receive their diagnosis in their 20s are women.
